Account settings

Your profile, theme, password, sign-in methods, signed-in devices, and the team settings under Settings.

Settings at the bottom of the sidebar, or Account Settings in the user menu, opens the settings pages. Back to app returns to the dashboard.

General, Authentication and Sessions are about your account. Integrations and Secret Keys belong to the selected team: see VOLT AI and Secret keys.

A single-user deployment (the browser runtime, the desktop app, or a server in local mode) has one local account and signs you in to it automatically. There is no sign-in page, password or session to manage, so its settings show only the theme, Integrations and Secret Keys.

The sign-in page (/auth/sign-in, Sign In or Join Now!) starts with your email.

  1. Enter your Email address and click Continue with Email, or use a Continue with GitHub, Continue with Google or Continue with Microsoft button.
  2. With an email that has an account, VOLT asks for your Password (Welcome back) and Sign In signs you in.
  3. With a new email, VOLT creates the account (Create Account): enter your Full name, a Password of at least 8 characters and Confirm password.

The sign-in page shows only the OAuth providers the server is configured for. A server enables GitHub, Google or Microsoft when its administrator sets the provider's client credentials; see Configuration.

Signing in with a provider goes through the provider's page and back to VOLT (/auth/oauth/callback, Authenticating...). VOLT needs the email address from the provider:

  • If an account with that email exists, VOLT links the provider to it and signs you in.
  • Otherwise, VOLT creates a new account with no password.

After you sign up, VOLT takes you through onboarding: creating a team (unless the server adds new users to a team automatically) and connecting a cluster.

General

General Settings has three parts.

  • Profile: Profile Picture, Full Name and Email. Click the picture to upload a new one (an image of up to 5 MB). Name and email changes save on their own a second after you stop typing (Saving changes..., then Changes saved).
  • Appearance: Theme, one of System (follows your operating system), Light or Dark.
  • Delete Account: deletes your account after you confirm Delete your account?. VOLT also removes your sign-in sessions, your AI conversations, your team memberships and your activity records. This cannot be undone.

Authentication

Authentication Settings manages your password.

  • Password shows when you last changed it, or No password set (OAuth only) for an account created with a provider. Change opens the form: Current Password, New Password (at least 8 characters) and Confirm New Password, then Change Password. Without a password, the button is Set Password and the form doesn't ask for a current one.
  • Recent Sessions › View Activity opens the Sessions page.

Changing your password signs out every other device: the server refuses tokens issued before the change. The device you changed it on stays signed in.

Some actions, such as deleting a cluster, ask for your password. An account without one must set one here first.

Sessions

Session Management lists where your account is signed in and what happened recently.

Active Sessions

Active Sessions lists each signed-in device with its IP address and last activity. This device is marked Current (Active now).

  • Revoke signs a device out, after you confirm Revoke this session?.
  • Revoke all others (Revoke All Other Sessions) signs out every device but this one.

Sign Out in the user menu forgets the session in this browser only. On the server it stays active, and listed here, until you revoke it or its token expires (after 7 days unless the server is configured otherwise).

Login Activity

Login Activity lists your 20 most recent events, each with the browser, operating system, IP address and time.

EventMeaning
Signed inSigned in with email and password.
Signed in with OAuthSigned in with GitHub, Google or Microsoft.
Password changedThe password was changed or set.
Failed sign-inA sign-in attempt with a wrong password.

VOLT AI can also list and revoke your sessions with its manage_sessions tool. It asks you before revoking anything; see VOLT AI.
