Notifications
The messages VOLT sends to your account, where they appear, and how read state works.
Notifications are short messages addressed to your account, each with a title, a line of text and, usually, a link to the page it concerns. They are personal: you see only your own, whichever team you have selected.
What sends a notification
VOLT creates a notification in these cases:
| When | Title | Opens |
|---|---|---|
| You create an account (email and password, or a first sign-in with an OAuth provider) | Welcome to the platform! | /dashboard |
| You create an account and the deployment does not add new users to a default team | Create your first team | /onboarding |
| Someone invites your email address to a team | Team Invitation | /team-invitation/:invitationId, with Accept Invitation and Reject Invitation |
An invitation by email reaches only people who already have an account on the deployment; VOLT does not send email. Joining with an invitation code does not create a notification. See Teams for both ways of inviting.
Jobs, analyses and uploads do not send notifications. Follow them in Jobs.
The popover
The bell in the dashboard header opens Notifications. The bell is also at the bottom right of the onboarding pages, so an invitation is reachable before you belong to a team.
- A badge on the bell shows the number of unread notifications, up to 99+.
- The list is newest first. Unread notifications have a tinted background and a dot.
- Click a notification to go to its link. The popover closes.
- Scroll to the bottom to load older notifications, 20 at a time.
- With nothing to show, the popover reads No notifications.
The list loads when a page with the bell opens and reloads every time you open the popover. Open it to check for anything new.
Read state
Mark all as read at the top of the popover marks every unread notification on your account as read. It appears only while you have unread notifications.
Opening a notification does not mark it as read, and there is no way to mark a single notification or to delete one. The unread badge counts the unread notifications among those loaded in the popover.
Notifications are kept until your account is deleted, which deletes them with it.
From VOLT AI
The VOLT AI assistant can read your notifications (newest first, optionally only the unread ones) when you ask about them. It cannot mark them as read.
